How did it all start?
In 2010 the Birofilia Festival finally got into full swing, adding a completely new dimension to the term of “Beer Fest”. The credit should first and foremost be attributed to beer lovers, who crowded Żywiec, adding to the unique atmosphere of the occasion. The Hobby Fair, the World Beers Alley and other attractions enjoyed huge interest, not only among Polish visitors.
Yet again we were surprised to learn that when it comes to beer, women have a lot to say. Already in 2009 ladies stood for themselves, winning prizes in a variety of categories, including the top prize – Brackie Pale Ale, created by Dorota Chrapek, became the Grand Champion of the Home-Brewed Beers Competition. A limited series of this unusual beer hit the stores on 6th December.

The Journalists’ Competition also proved a great success, with the Brovaria Poznań restaurant taking the honourable title of “Wheat Bomb”. Competition was fierce and choice – difficult, but finally the second prize went to Browarmia Warszawa, a the third one – to C.K. Browar Kraków.
In the artisan beer competition, the laurel for the best wheat beer went to the “Manufaktura” Bierhalle from Łódź, while the “Silesia” Bierhalle from Katowice was awarded for the best Pilsner.
