As always, at the end of the third week of June many beer enthusiasts came to Zywiec to and participate in the biggest polish beer festival. The festival offered many attractions, including cinema, where you could watch films from the "Polish Breweries" series, tour in Zywiec Brewery and Brewery Museum and the Zyweic Porter's malt smoking show. There were also usual entertainment. The main tent held contests and beer brewing demonstration. In the collectors zone You could exchange Your collections or buy the missing specimens and at the World Beer Alley try one of 155 beers from the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Ireland and many other countries.

Besides Homemade Beer Competition You could also participate in Craft Beer Competition, contests for journalists and even Contest for the Best Festival Costume. During the festival about 3,800 people came to Żywiec. An evening concert of KULT gathered up 5,000 people.

The big winner of the festival was Jan Szała whose beer, brewed in one of the most traditional style of German North Rhine-Westphalia, won the Grand Champion Birofilia 2011. The jury chaired by dr. Andrzej Sadownik, father of Polish home brewing, composed of the foreign masters of brewing (eg Conrad Seidla - "Pope Beer", Martin Zuber - the main brewer of Paulaner brewery) chose them from among more than 200 beers submitted by 88 home brewers. December sixth a limited edition of Grand Champion appeared in shops. Other beer made by John Szała won also in "Złote Belgijskie Mocne" category, winners of the other categories were: Jacek Michna (Rosyjski Imperialny Stout oraz Bohemskie Ciemne), Waldemar Szweda (Lager Wiedeński) and Tomasz Rogaczewski (Szkockie Ale 70/-).
